I'd like to recommend a valuable resource for veterinarians and veterinary technicians: The World of Surgical Instruments for Animal Health by Rick Schultz, founder and former CEO of Spectrum Surgical Instruments.
Rick and I first became acquainted many years ago when I was teaching surgery at The Ohio State University, and I've always appreciated his commitment to veterinary surgical education.
His textbook is a remarkably comprehensive and practical guide to surgical instrument identification, selection, use, cleaning, maintenance, and repair.
I was particularly impressed with the detailed information on instrument care and maintenance—an important subject that doesn't always receive the attention it deserves.
I highly recommend this book to veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and anyone involved in surgical instrument management.
